Berlin hires at every size, from two-person teams to listed groups, and the full list mixes them together. This page keeps only the startups, using a definition Pegel can check against its own records rather than a feeling about which companies seem young.

Pegel counts a company as a startup when two facts are on record. Its last disclosed funding round sits between pre-seed and Series D. Its headcount band, as Pegel records it, puts it at 500 employees or fewer. A company that has been acquired drops out, because its last round no longer describes who owns it. A company can also be left out after a manual review, and each such exception is recorded with its reason.

When either fact is missing, the company stays off this page. Pegel does not guess a stage or a size to fill the gap, so some young companies are absent until their records are complete. That makes the page narrower than the real startup scene, on purpose.

Every role still comes straight from the company's own careers feed, refreshed three times a day, and the job description stays verbatim. The full list, with every kind of employer, lives at Berlin jobs. To filter by language instead of company type, see Berlin jobs with no German required.

Questions

What counts as a startup on this page?
A company whose last disclosed funding round falls between pre-seed and Series D, with a recorded headcount band of 500 employees or fewer. Acquired companies and any reviewed exceptions are left out. A company with an unknown stage or an unknown size is left out as well.
Why is a company I know missing?
Most often its funding stage or its headcount is not on record yet, and Pegel leaves unknown values out rather than guess. It may also have raised past Series D or reached 500 employees. An acquisition removes it as well. The company page shows the stage and size Pegel holds, and an email is enough to correct a record.
Where do the stage and size come from?
Both come from Pegel's own company records, which are set when a company joins the board and are shown on each company page. A record can lag behind a new round or a hiring wave, so treat the label as a guide and check the company's own news before relying on it.
Can I get these roles by email?
Yes. The alert below saves the stage and size filters behind this page. It does not carry the acquisition rule or any reviewed exceptions, so an email can include a role this page leaves out. The Refine this search link opens the same stage and size filters on the full list, with the same gap. One email a day, Monday to Saturday, including quiet days.
