Working Student – Hardware & Deployment Support

Job description

The Role

As a Working Student in Engineering Support, you help our Engineering team prepare and configure YouTrain’s products for deployment to customers. You install software on our hardware, prepare devices for use in training environments, and support the team with day-to-day technical tasks. Our products combine gaming technology, simulation and XR to create realistic training experiences – and you help make sure they are ready to use.

You don’t need an advanced technical background or programming experience. What matters most is that you understand the basics of hardware and software, pick up new things quickly, and enjoy getting hands-on with technology. Our team will show you everything you need to know. You work closely with Engineering colleagues at our office in Hamburg-Hammerbrook, where you can learn how our products work and contribute directly to getting them into the hands of our customers.

What You’ll Do

  • Install and configure software on our hardware and make sure devices are ready for use.
  • Prepare and set up devices for customer deployments, including products such as ShootAR.
  • Support the Engineering team with day-to-day technical tasks and practical problem-solving.
  • Help test and check devices to ensure everything works as expected before deployment.
  • Assist with organising, maintaining and preparing hardware and equipment.
  • Learn how our products work and become a reliable go-to person for practical technical support.

About You

  • You are currently enrolled at a university or university of applied sciences. Your field of study and semester are flexible – we care more about your mindset than your degree.
  • You have a basic understanding of hardware and software and are comfortable working with technical devices.
  • You pick up new things quickly and enjoy figuring out how things work.
  • You have a hands-on mentality: you like getting things done, solving practical problems and supporting the team wherever needed.
  • You are reliable, organised and pay attention to detail, especially when preparing devices for customer use.
  • You are available to work around 20 hours per week and are happy to work on-site at our office in Hamburg-Hammerbrook. Your working hours can be arranged flexibly around your study schedule, ideally during regular office hours.
  • You have good conversational skills in both German and English and feel comfortable communicating with colleagues in both languages.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience setting up PCs, installing software or troubleshooting basic hardware and software issues.
  • Previous experience with technical equipment, device configuration or IT support.
  • An interest in gaming hardware, VR/XR devices or simulation technology.

What We Offer

  • The opportunity to work with innovative gaming, simulation and XR technology used in real-world training.
  • A practical role with real responsibility and a direct contribution to getting our products ready for customers.
  • Close collaboration with our Engineering team and hands-on learning from experienced colleagues.
  • A modern office in Hamburg-Hammerbrook and a team that supports you as you learn.
  • Flexible working hours around your studies, with approximately 20 hours per week.
  • Competitive compensation of 17€–18€ per hour, equivalent to approximately €1,400–1,550 gross per month for 20 hours per week on average.
  • An initial one-year contract, with the possibility of extension.
  • The opportunity to grow with a team building technology that makes a real difference in training.
