About lemon.markets 🍋
We enable anyone to be an investor. Our mission is to grow investing opportunities for all European customers and businesses. By empowering FinTechs, banks, and wealth managers to offer investment products, we help create financial well-being for their customers.
lemon.markets is a Brokerage-as-a-Service platform: simple digital access to capital markets through a single API. Our API-first infrastructure abstracts brokerage complexity with a well-documented API, a self-service customer operations portal, and a clear regulatory framework, so partners can launch customer-centric, compliant products in weeks, not months.
As part of the dwpbank Group, we share a clear goal: we enable anyone to be an investor by making investing in capital markets more accessible. By combining dwpbank’s long-standing expertise and stability with lemon.markets’ technology-first mindset and speed, we are building a modern, modular securities services ecosystem. Together, we offer faster time-to-market, modular services, and a modern customer experience that helps financial service providers stay competitive and respond more flexibly in a changing market.
Your Mission
As a Working Student in Compliance, you will support a broad range of day-to-day activities that help lemon.markets operate in a compliant, well-organised, and scalable way. You will join a team of five, where Compliance and Anti-Financial Crime work closely together under one team structure and collaborate intentionally through regular alignment, knowledge sharing, and strong written communication. In this role, you will contribute to documentation, process support, monitoring activities, and cross-functional coordination across topics such as investment compliance, regulatory compliance, data protection, and anti-financial crime. Over the next months, your work will help the team stay organised, audit-ready, and effective in a highly regulated environment. This role is a strong fit for someone who wants to build practical experience in a second line of defence function, learn how compliance works in a modern fintech, and contribute with curiosity, reliability, and a hands-on mindset. You will work closely with colleagues across Compliance & AFC, as well as with Risk, Operations, and first-line teams to help ensure regulatory requirements are understood, documented, and reflected in internal processes.
In this role you will:
Support day-to-day activities across the Compliance & Anti-Financial Crime function together with the full team, so important topics are followed up consistently and the function runs smoothly.
Prepare, maintain, and organise compliance-related documentation with your team and relevant stakeholders, so we remain audit-ready and can provide structured evidence for internal and external reviews.
Monitor and improve compliance processes across investment compliance, regulatory compliance, data protection, and anti-financial crime, so the team can work efficiently and maintain high standards in a regulated environment.
Act as a central coordination point within the Compliance & AFC team, supporting collaboration across different focus areas, so information flows clearly and priorities stay aligned.
Collaborate with Risk, Operations, and first-line teams on regulatory and compliance-related topics, so internal processes reflect applicable requirements and practical business realities.
Contribute to structured research, documentation, and process enhancement initiatives, including technology-enabled ways of working, so the team can scale its impact and reduce manual effort over time.
You’ll be successful in this role if you:
You are currently enrolled at a German university or Hochschule and expect to remain enrolled for at least one more year.
You are based in Berlin and available to work in a hybrid setup with regular time in the office.
You are studying law, finance, or a related field, and you have already gained relevant internship or working student experience in compliance or another highly regulated environment.
You have a solid understanding of compliance and what it means to work in a second line of defence function.
You communicate clearly in English and feel comfortable working in a team with a strong written culture and structured documentation.
You are curious, organised, and solution-oriented: you enjoy learning, researching, managing your work independently, collaborating with others, and using technology to improve how work gets done.
Nice to have
First hands-on experience with AI prompting or technology-supported research and productivity workflows.
Exposure to financial services, fintech, or regulatory topics related to investment services.
An interest in building longer-term expertise across Compliance, Anti-Financial Crime, or broader control functions.
What great looks like
You bring a thoughtful, grounded attitude to learning and do not approach the role with a know-it-all mindset.
You are open to feedback, ask good questions, and actively seek to understand how and why things are done.
You combine attention to detail with strong self-management and follow-through.
You are a strong team player who communicates clearly and contributes reliably.
You are excited by structured problem-solving and pragmatic, technology-driven ways of working.
