Job description

Your mission

Your mission is to own process engineering across our key development projects — from our First-of-a-Kind facility to the next stages of scale-up. You'll ensure that process design decisions are well-founded, consistently documented, and aligned across teams, while keeping a clear line of sight from today's engineering work to tomorrow's commercial plant.

Key points
  • Own and drive process engineering across all active development projects
  • Lead process safety, HAZOP, and regulatory compliance
  • Manage engineering change and design documentation across the project lifecycle

Your profile

Skills & Experience
  • Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or related field.
  • 7+ years of process engineering experience, with a strong track record of leading or coordinating engineering work across multiple projects
  • Proven experience managing engineering change — from design updates and deviation handling to formal change control processes
  • Solid background in process safety, including HAZOP facilitation, risk assessment, and regulatory compliance
  • Strong command of process engineering documentation standards: PFDs, P&IDs, H&MBs, valve and pipe sizing, and safety reviews
  • Experience working with simulation teams or external technical partners to align models with design requirements
  • Familiarity with novel or first-of-a-kind process development environments is a strong plus
Workstyle and culture
  • Thinks in systems and owns outcomes — not just tasks
  • Fast learner who quickly grasps complex topics and stays curious about the problem, not just the solution
  • Combines scientific rigour with pragmatic, hands-on, build-and-learn instincts
  • Authentic, reflective, and self-organised — brings structure without losing speed
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and effective at working across cross-functional teams
  • Clear and direct communicator with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, with strong active listening skills
Other
  • Valid Work Permit for Germany, or able to obtain a permit
  • Location: Exiting industrial Co-Working Space in Marzahn where we have our own industrial halls to build

Benefits

  • Unique experience contributing to a first-of-a-kind climate-tech project (tFOAK).
  • A steep learning curve, exposure to cross-functional challenges, and the ability to shape a project from the ground up.
  • Fast-paced, collaborative environment where your decisions have a real impact.
  • Competitive compensation and personal growth opportunities.
  • Employee stock options
  • Learning and development Budget
  • Regular team events
  • Subsidized BVG ticket
  • Laptop and your individual work set up
Evidence from the posting
No German required
The job description is written entirely in English with no mention of German language requirements. The role is technical (Process Engineer) focused on simulation tools, experimental design, and process modeling. While the position is based in Berlin (Marzahn), the JD contains no indication that German is needed for day-to-day work, communication with colleagues, or job duties. The only Germany-specific requirement is a valid work permit, which is administrative, not linguistic. No phrase such as 'German required', 'B2 German', 'verhandlungssicher', or 'German-speaking team' appears in the description.
