We are looking for a Site Reliability Engineer to complement our Customer Operations Team. In this role, you will support our customers as they deploy our product and its dependencies. To accomplish this, you will build, improve and manage our automation and deployment infrastructure, to ensure the reliability and resilience of our product for our customers.

GENERAL INFORMATION

  • Working hours: full-time

  • Working Location: Berlin/ Germany Remote/ EU Remote

  • Reports to: Head of Service Delivery & Customer Operations

  • Desired start date: As soon as possible

YOUR CHALLENGE AT WIRE

Be ready to play a key role in our Customer Operations team. You will work closely with the Platform team, our Service Delivery team and other teams on a regular basis. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Deploy and run our Backend services and a supporting Kubernetes infrastructure in customer environments on Kubernetes.

  • Support our customers with operating our backend services on-premise (incl. air-gapped) and deploy on-prem-like staging environments on VMs/Bare-metal platforms for our internal QA processes

  • Ensure our customer facing documentation is up-to-date, and expand it as necessary, to ensure customers are always following a documented process

  • Support on-prem / offline deployments of multiple kubernetes flavours

  • Automate our infrastructure deployments and management with IaC (using Kubernetes, Terraform, Nix, Ansible, Concourse, GitHub Actions and others)

  • Maintain infrastructure used for documentation services, and for reproducing customer issues

  • Ensure services are up and running for our customers 24/7

  • Work on Open Source code, contribute to various upstream projects

YOUR PROFILE

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent industry experience

  • 3+ years of professional experience in Operations, Networking, SRE, or Platform Engineering roles

  • 3+ years of customer-facing experience supporting a product deployed on-prem

  • Proven track record of managing Deployments on and of Kubernetes-based Platforms using Infrastructure as Code

  • Passionate about building, documenting, and debugging distributed and scalable systems

  • Strong Linux background, including the ability to analyse and troubleshoot OS-level and networking issues

  • On-premise deployment / operations experience

  • Experience in automating containerized builds and deployments

  • Strong programming skills in at least one of the following programming languages: 

    • Haskell, Rust, C, Java, Go

  • Hands-on experience with most of the following: Kubernetes (Operators), Terraform, Helm, Nix, Ansible, Systemd.

  • Have worked with a few different virtualization and containerization platforms, including at least Docker, KVM, LXC

  • Have a proven track record of working with Open Source / Free Software communities.

  • Experience debugging network issues using packet capture tools

  • Has a Solid understanding of modern software-development lifecycle methodologies (Agile, DevOps, GitOps, etc.).

  • Experience managing Cassandra, ElasticSearch, Redis, Postgres, or RabbitMQ is a plus

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills are a must, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams

  • Fluency in English is required; fluency in either German and/or French is a valued additional qualification
