Job description

This is us

Lumenaza builds software for the decentralized energy world. Our platform enables suppliers, generators, and energy communities to participate in a rapidly evolving energy market. We operate in a domain with complex processes, regulatory requirements, and high expectations regarding reliability and correctness.

As our platform grows, quality becomes less about finding defects late and more about building confidence into the software delivery process from the start.

Your role
We are looking for a Senior QA Engineer who helps our teams make better quality and release decisions.

You will shape how we approach quality across the engineering organization, strengthen our testing and validation capabilities, and ensure that business-critical processes remain reliable as our systems evolve.

Success in this role is not measured by the number of test cases or automated checks, but by improved confidence, reduced risk, and faster, safer delivery.

Your tasks

Strengthen Quality Engineering

  • Evolve our quality strategy across unit, integration, API, and end-to-end testing layers

  • Improve our automation capabilities with a focus on maintainability, reliability, and meaningful feedback

  • Help teams identify the right level of testing for different types of risks and changes

  • Promote quality practices that move validation earlier into everyday development

Protect Business-Critical Processes

  • Develop a deep understanding of our most important market and business processes

  • Define and maintain critical end-to-end scenarios that provide confidence in production readiness

  • Identify quality risks across services, integrations, workflows, and operational processes

  • Support defect analysis and drive sustainable improvements together with Engineering, Product, and Operations

Improve Release Confidence

  • Provide transparent assessments of quality, risk, and coverage for releases

  • Help teams make informed trade-offs between delivery speed and risk reduction

  • Contribute to quality metrics, test reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives

  • Use insights from testing, incidents, and production feedback to improve quality over time

Your profile

What you bring

  • Several years of experience as a Senior QA Engineer, SDET, Quality Engineer, or in a comparable hands-on role

  • Strong experience with test automation and modern software development practices

  • Experience with Python and backend-oriented applications

  • Experience with Docker, Docker Compose, and containerized test environments

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and Linux-based development environments

  • Strong judgment when assessing risks and determining appropriate quality safeguards

  • Enjoy working closely with software engineers and believe that quality is a shared responsibility

  • Excellent English communication skills

Nice to have

  • Experience with Django or comparable Python web frameworks

  • Experience with test data management and test environments

  • Experience working with mature B2B or SaaS platforms

  • German language skills for day-to-day collaboration

  • Experience in the German energy market or other highly process-driven industries

Why this role is interesting
Quality is becoming more important, not less.

As AI-assisted development increases engineering throughput, organizations need stronger quality signals, better risk assessment, and greater release confidence. This role sits at the intersection of engineering excellence, product quality, and operational reliability.

You will have the opportunity to shape how quality is approached across the organization and directly influence the reliability of software that supports the energy transition.

We offer you this

  • Meaningful work with direct relevance to the energy transition

  • A high-impact role with visibility across Engineering, Product, and Operations

  • The opportunity to shape quality practices across an entire platform

  • Hybrid work with an office in Berlin

  • Fair compensation and benefits, including a Deutschlandticket

  • A collaborative and pragmatic engineering culture
