Mission

Founded in 2024 by Lukas Zörner and Anil Can Baykal, Integral set out to redefine how accounting, taxation and payroll works for SMEs in Europe, starting with Germany. The company is backed by General Catalyst, Cherry Ventures, Puzzle Ventures and entrepreneurs across Europe.
As Senior Product Engineer, you will help us build trustworthy product experiences that solve real customer problems on payroll, tax and accounting. Own outcomes, not just output, balancing speed and craftsmanship to deliver value that compounds using state-of-the-art tools and methodologies.

This role follows a hybrid schedule in our Berlin office to collaborate effectively with the team.

Your Tasks

What you'll do

  • Ship user-facing features end-to-end: ideation, technical design, implementation, testing, release, and iteration
  • Collaborate with Product and Design to turn complex requirements into elegant, scalable solutions
  • Improve the reliability, performance, and security of our payroll, accounting, and tax platforms
  • Raise the bar on engineering quality via thoughtful reviews, pairing, testing, and documentation
  • Instrument features with analytics and logging; measure impact and iterate quickly
  • Own critical product areas with a bias for high-impact improvements
  • Balance short-term delivery with long-term architectural investments
  • Drive simplicity: reduce cognitive load for users and developers alike

What makes it special

  • High ownership: you'll shape what we build and how we build it
  • Your engineering decisions directly influence user experience and business outcomes
  • Tight feedback loops with customers and internal stakeholders
  • Pragmatic pace: ship, learn, iterate, without sacrificing quality

Core responsibilities

Experience & Mindset

  • 5+ years in software engineering with significant product-building experience at a startup or high-growth company
  • Proven track record of owning features and services end-to-end and driving measurable customer impact
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and discovery; experienced collaborating closely with Product and Design
  • You turn constraints into focus, manage your own time, and leave codebases and teams better than you found them
  • You simplify complex systems, make good decisions reversible, and build comprehensible plans
  • Comfortable using AI coding tools like Cursor, Copilot, or Claude, and able to audit and test AI-generated code

Technical Skills

  • Strong in at least two of: TypeScript/JavaScript, Java, Python
  • Domain Driven Design: solid grasp of domain design and relationships
  • Testing: unit, integration, and end-to-end; CI/CD, feature flags, and rollout strategies
  • Observability: logs, metrics, traces; familiarity with SLOs and incident response
  • Security basics: authN/authZ, secrets management, threat modeling, secure coding practices

The process

1. Intro Call with our Talent Team
2. Deep dive Interview with our CTO & co-founder
3. On-site Coding Interview at our Berlin office with the engineering team
4. Founder Conversation with our CEO & co-founder

Our offer

  • Above-market salary
  • Direct line to the Founders: no filter, no queue, no committee
  • Total autonomy on what you build; we measure hours saved
  • The best tools, no questions asked: Claude Max, Cursor, OpenAI, whatever ships next week
  • Internal tools and resources purpose-built to support agentic AI development at scale, read about how we work at engineering.integral.de
  • 28 vacation days per year, plus half-days on December 24 and 31
  • Urban Sports Club membership or Deutschlandticket, your choice
  • Laptop of your choice: MacBook Pro or Windows
  • Company pension scheme (bAV)
  • Modern office in the heart of Berlin Mitte, right next to Mauerpark
  • Weekly team lunches on us, office BBQs, and a dinner budget for late nights after 8pm
  • A team of 50+ (and growing!) ambitious, diverse people, 20%+ ex-founders learning and building together
